New Year brings renewal. An opportunity to do those things you have always wanted. Maybe you started them this time last year. Maybe you kept at it. Maybe not. Either way, the future is now. As you move forward achieving what you want during the year, it is important to do what is right for you. In your own way. In your own time. To make the progress that you want to make, it is vital that you run your own race.

There have been countless examples of people doing this. Jesse Owens won a gold medal at the 1936 Olympic Games in Germany. This was not only a sporting achievement, but also a hugely significant personal and human achievement. Not only did he face racism and segregation in his native USA, but also in Nazi-era Germany and yet, he followed his own star to achieve his own personal success against all the odds.

However, it is important to note that all goals, however big or small, can have the same empowering value to the person whose goal it is. Enabling you to dream and achieve your dream. What do you want to achieve this year? Perhaps it’s something you have always wanted to achieve? Maybe writing a book, travelling the world, getting a new job or taking an evening class, whatever it is, in the same way that Jesse Owens ran his own race, your life is your race to run. Run it your way.

Whatever it is, if you really want to do it, what’s stopping you? You can make it happen. Run your own race. You can be what you want to be. This is your year!
